Art Studio + Exhibition Space in Bushwick
About Tornadothings + Victoria Hurst:
Victoria Hurst in an oil painter and creative designer who currently resides in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Her work focuses on large scale impressionist oil paintings, but ventures into other territories such as fashion, print, and curation. A dual degree in science and studio art helped to influence a unique signature style that attempts to not only describe, but also make sense of the world and her own subconscious. Victoria, uses a technique resembling the Impressionist style, pushes back against classical subject matter and embraces modernity, desiring to create works that reflect the current world. Each work tells a story; using light, vivid colors, and wax as tools to build layers of depth. The impasto technique she utilizes adds expressiveness to her paintings; to the viewer they appear almost three-dimensional. Her work interweaves themes of identity, social consciousness, and our place in the universe.
Tornadothings is a creative space which acts primarily as a private gallery for Victoria’s work, but also houses pop-ups for local brands and acts as an intimate venue for musicians.
